Local first
Meal, body and weight records are stored on your device first.
PRIVACY, CLEARLY · POLICY
If Nanami is here for your food log, your data journey should be visible too. Nometer is local first. Data leaves your device only when it is needed for a feature you choose, such as AI, sync, social features or messaging.
The short version
Meal, body and weight records are stored on your device first.
You decide what to share, who can see it, or not to share at all.
We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
How data moves
Different features need different data. This map gives the short answer; the complete details follow below.
Local meals, body profile, weight history, preferences and calendar data.
Data needed for AI recognition, Nanami, sync, social features and messages.
Encrypted connections process only the data needed for the feature you chose.
Meal records and photos, body profile, weight history, memories, preferences and calendar data are stored locally first. When you sign in, selected records are also saved over an encrypted connection so they can sync across your devices.
Signing out does not automatically erase local records. Local first does not mean every feature is fully offline: sync, AI, social features and messaging process the data needed for those features as described here.
With your permission, the app reads the health categories needed for its cards and calorie budget and may write weight and dietary energy. Health-store records are primarily processed on your device.
Account sync includes the body profile, meals, nutrition and weight records you create in Nometer. Optional social features send only the summaries you enable in Settings. We do not upload a complete copy of your Apple Health or Health Connect database.
For a calorie estimate, the image and text you submit are processed over an encrypted connection. Meal photos may also be saved for cross-device backup and features you choose.
Avatars, social images, direct-message media, stickers, chat backgrounds and custom Nanami images are stored when you use those features. Messages to the Nanami AI companion and the context needed to answer them are processed to generate the response.
Account sign-in may provide us with an account identifier, email address and name. We store the display name, optional avatar and bio, member number, sign-in identities, sessions, device push token, sync records, friends, posts, interactions, reports and messages needed to provide the service.
Sharing stays under your control. Settings manage visibility for meals, sleep, workouts, status, leaderboards, discovery and public promotion. Posts and profile data are shown to the audience you choose; direct messages are shown only to conversation participants. You can also block and report users or posts in the app.
You can change sharing settings, remove or block friends, report or delete content, and delete your account in Settings. If you cannot access the app, you can follow the web instructions to request deletion.
Account deletion removes server-side account data through a deletion process. Local records may remain on your device until another account replaces them, you clear app data, or you uninstall the app.
